WEBROBOT

Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of WebRobot. The short version: you pay for a plan, you tell robots what to collect, and you are responsible for what you point them at. We run the platform, keep your data private, and do not decide which websites are appropriate targets for your business.

01 / THE AGREEMENT FIG. 1 · WHO OWES WHAT

What each side is responsible for

Area WebRobot You
The platform We operate the service, run your robots, and deliver the results. Keep your account credentials secure and do not share seats beyond your plan.
Choice of targets We provide the tool. We do not review or approve the sites you choose. You decide what to collect and confirm you are allowed to collect it.
Your data We store it for you, do not sell it, and delete it when you ask. You own the results and are responsible for how you use them.
Personal data We process it on your instructions. You are the controller and need a lawful basis to collect it.
Billing We charge the plan you selected and tell you before it renews. Pay on time, or the account is suspended until you do.
02 / ACCEPTABLE USE FIG. 2 · WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO

Acceptable use

These are the lines that get an account terminated. They exist because our reputation as a crawler, and yours, depends on them.

You may not use WebRobot to:

  • Break into anything. Do not use the service to access systems you have no right to access, defeat authentication, or exploit a vulnerability.
  • Overwhelm a website. Do not attempt to use robots to degrade or deny service to a target site. We apply rate limits and we will enforce them.
  • Harvest personal data without a lawful basis, or build data products that we would have to describe as surveillance of private individuals.
  • Collect content in violation of a binding agreement you have with the target site, or in violation of applicable law.
  • Resell raw WebRobot access as your own scraping product without a written agreement with us.

We honor robots.txt and apply rate limits on every crawl. Those are not settings you can turn off, and asking us to disable them is grounds for us to end the agreement. If you want the detail on how we crawl and who is responsible for what, read the security and compliance page, and if you are unsure whether your use case is lawful, start with our guide to the legality of web scraping.

03 / PLANS AND BILLING FIG. 3 · MONEY

Plans, billing, and cancellation

Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, in US dollars. Current plans and limits are on the pricing page. Yearly billing is discounted and is charged for the full term up front.

Each plan includes a monthly allowance of extracted records and a number of robots. If you exceed the allowance, we will tell you and ask you to move up a tier rather than silently billing you for overage.

You can cancel at any time and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not lock you into a term you did not agree to. If we change prices, existing customers get notice before the change applies to a renewal.

We may suspend an account for non-payment, or terminate it for a breach of the acceptable use rules above. If we terminate an account for a reason that is our fault rather than yours, we refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

04 / THE LEGAL PART FIG. 4 · LIABILITY

Service availability, warranties, and liability

We work to keep the service running and to keep your robots extracting, but the service is provided as it is, without a warranty that every run will succeed. Websites change, block traffic, and go down, and a robot that depends on a third-party site can be affected by all three. Where a target site changes, our robots re-map fields and continue, but we cannot guarantee that any specific site will remain extractable.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data.

You agree to cover us for claims brought against us that arise out of what you chose to collect: which sites you targeted, what data you gathered, and what you did with it. That is the natural consequence of you, not us, choosing the targets.

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you before it takes effect rather than quietly editing this page.
